2024 Hajj: Nigerian pilgrim dies in Saudi Arabia

A Nigerian pilgrim named Tawalkatu Alako from Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State has died in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

 

The executive chairman of Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday, May 26, 2024. 

 

“The deceased died on Saturday after a brief illness and her funeral prayer took place at the Al-Masjid Al-Haram (Ka’aba). She was buried according to Islamic rites on the same day,” the statement read.

 

The chairman, on behalf of the Kebbi government, extended his heartfelt condolences to her immediate family, Kebbi pilgrims, and the entire people of the state.

Meanwhile, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Chairman/CEO, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, has condoled the Kebbi state Pilgrims’ Welfare Board over the death of the pilgrim.

 

In a condolence message delivered by the Makkah Office Coordinator, Dr. Aliyu Tanko, to the Kebbi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Officials led by Alhaji Garba Takware, the Chairman expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the family and the people of Kebbi state and prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest. 

 

In his response, Alhaji Takware thanked the leadership of the Commission for the visit and prayed for a very successful Hajj Operation. 

 

Special supplication was made for the soul of the deceased and other pilgrims.

 

Those who accompanied the Coordinator on the visit includes; Saudi Liaison Officer, Ustaz Abubakar Lamin and other staff.
