D’Tigress Defeats Philippines 101-84 in FIBA World Cup Qualifier
Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, secured a decisive 101-84 victory over the Philippines in their third match of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament on Saturday.
After suffering a 77-60 loss to Colombia in their previous game, D’Tigress faced an uphill battle early in this matchup. The Philippines outperformed Nigeria in the first quarter, taking a 25-21 lead, and extended their advantage to nine points by halftime, leading 51-42.
However, D’Tigress showed resilience in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 34-21 to erase the deficit. Rena Wakama’s squad maintained momentum in the final period, dominating with a 25-12 score to secure the win and surpass the 100-point mark.
Looking ahead, D’Tigress will face France on Sunday before concluding their tournament campaign against Germany on Monday.
