Uyo, Akwa Ibom State — Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, has urged his supporters in Akwa Ibom State to unify their efforts and support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the primary platform for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
In a statement made during mobilization activities in Uyo, Tanko stressed the importance of ensuring accurate ballot counting, citing alleged irregularities in the 2023 elections. He called on supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to move from enthusiasm to organized action.
“My dear brothers and sisters of the Obidient Movement in Akwa Ibom State, I bring you warm greetings and unwavering hope,” Tanko stated. He emphasized the need for supporters to engage actively, saying, “The time has come to move from passion to structure, from structure to strategy, and from strategy to victory.”
Tanko described the Obidient Movement as part of a larger effort to create a “new Nigeria,” focused on leadership that embodies discipline, competence, compassion, and accountability. He called on coordinators, volunteers, youth leaders, women, and elders to reinforce local structures, register voters, and safeguard the electoral process.
“As we consolidate our political strength, we must strategically channel our collective energy into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as our vehicle for transformation and victory in 2027,” he asserted. “This is not just a political alignment—it is a strategic movement toward winning power to serve the people.”
He further emphasized the importance of unity and participation, urging, “Let no one sit on the sidelines. Let no one say, ‘My voice does not matter.’ When we move together, we are unstoppable. When we organize, we win. When we vote, we transform nations.”
In closing, Tanko reiterated his support for Obi, asserting, “Collectively, we will ensure that Peter Obi becomes President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, because he has the energy, integrity, and capacity to build a new Nigeria. Arise and shine, for a New Nigeria is possible.”
