2027: Niger Delta activist urges NASS to approve real-time e-results transmission

Niger Delta Activist Advocates for Electronic Results Transmission Ahead of 2027 Elections
WARRI, Nigeria — As the 2027 general elections approach, human rights activist Israel Joe has added his voice to calls for the National Assembly to approve the real-time transmission of electronic election results. Joe made his appeal during a solo protest recorded in Warri, Delta State, on Monday.
He emphasized that enabling electronic results transmission would significantly benefit the nation. “What the umpire should do is to check and tally what was sent by the card reader to the IReV,” he stated.
Joe warned that failure to implement this measure could suggest intentions to manipulate the electoral process. “If the National Assembly fails to approve the transmission of e-results in real time, it means they are now planning how to manipulate and rig the 2027 elections,” he said.
Representing voices from the Niger Delta, Joe urged the legislature to adopt provisions that promote transparency and fairness in Nigerian elections. “We are calling on all stakeholders and the Nigerian people to press the National Assembly to take action,” he urged. “Anywhere there is a card reader, if you can read someone’s thumb, you can also have the network to transmit results.”
Critiquing the Senate’s concerns about network availability for electronic transmission, Joe argued that such reasoning hinders national progress. “If we want to grow, we must implement systems that enhance our efficacy,” he added.
Joe concluded his protest with a call for the National Assembly to prioritize actions that would ensure the upcoming elections are peaceful, credible, and regarded as exemplary internationally.
