2027: Why nobody will beat Tinubu in Lagos again, by Sen. Ganiyu Solomon

Lagos, Nigeria – Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, a prominent member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), recently shared insights on the challenges and successes of the Bola Tinubu administration in an interview. Solomon, who is widely recognized within political circles as GOS, emphasized the GAC’s pivotal role in Lagos governance and the value of ongoing political engagement under President Tinubu.
Despite recent electoral setbacks, Solomon insisted that the circumstances surrounding Tinubu’s performance in the 2023 presidential elections will not be repeated. “It will never happen again,” he stated emphatically, underscoring a commitment to learning from previous challenges.
In discussing his recent activities, Solomon explained that he and other political leaders are focused on broader responsibilities that extend beyond local governance. “We are attuned to the dynamics within the state as well as across the country given the current leadership,” he said, emphasizing that all political developments are of concern to the GAC.
The GAC, established by Tinubu during his tenure as governor, serves as a vital feedback mechanism for elected officials. Solomon clarified that the council is designed to discuss governance issues collectively, allowing various voices to contribute before arriving at decisions, thus reinforcing democracy within the advisory process.
Reflecting on the 2023 presidential elections in Lagos, Solomon acknowledged that various factors contributed to the unexpected outcomes. He refrained from labeling it a failure but noted a need to maintain vigilance moving forward.
When asked about the influx of political figures switching parties to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Solomon attributed this trend to the current administration’s initiatives. He pointed to the financial gains many states are experiencing, which he believes are reinforcing the appeal of the APC as a party committed to effective governance.
“Our achievements, such as the completion of the Lagos Blue Line Rail and the establishment of the Lagos Rice Mill, indicate significant advancements in infrastructure and local development,” Solomon highlighted. He noted that even individuals who did not vote for the APC recognize and appreciate the governance efforts currently underway.
Regarding President Tinubu’s leadership, Solomon expressed confidence in the president’s capacity to navigate challenges and respond effectively to the needs of the public. He remarked that Tinubu has consistently demonstrated a willingness to adapt and accommodate differing opinions, enhancing his governance style.
As the political landscape evolves, Solomon remains optimistic about the future of the APC and the governance trajectory in Lagos. He believes that the administration’s accomplishments will bolster support for future elections, stating, “By the end of this administration, people will be calling for a second term.”
Overall, Solomon’s insights reflect a commitment to political resilience and civic engagement in Lagos as the GAC continues to play a fundamental role in governance under the Tinubu administration.
