Former Nigerian President Obasanjo Launches Major Medical Outreach for 89th Birthday
LAGOS — Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is targeting at least 10,000 beneficiaries in Lagos as part of the celebrations for his upcoming 89th birthday.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo announced that the medical outreach will take place in the Ikorodu and Alimosho local government areas from February 27 to March 4, 2026.
The initiative will offer a range of free healthcare services, including cardiovascular screenings, blood pressure checks, heart health assessments, preventive medical counseling, general medical consultations, diagnoses and treatment, as well as the distribution of essential medications.
The statement emphasized that this medical outreach is organized by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation (OOF) as a legacy-driven initiative. It aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services at no cost to Nigerians, reflecting Obasanjo’s long-standing commitment to public service and nation-building.
The outreach will commence on February 27, 2026, at the Ijede LCDA Council Hall in Ikorodu, followed by an event at the Imota Mini Stadium on February 28. From March 2 to March 4, the outreach will move to Alade Stadium in Agbado/Oke-Odo, Alimosho, where beneficiaries will also have access to free ear care services, hearing aids for qualified individuals, detailed eye screenings, prescription glasses, and referrals for eye surgeries.
