Gunmen murder pipeline surveillance worker in Bayelsa

An official of an indigenous pipeline surveillance firm identified as Mr Indukakpo Ogede has been killed by gunmen in Bayelsa State.

 

Ogede’s assailants reportedly shot him twice in a hotel around Tamic Road in Okutukutu area of Yenagoa on Sunday July 10. 

 

Punch reported that the gunmen entered the hotel and paid for three rooms, where they lurked around to strike their target.

 

Sources told the publication that after the gunmen lodged, they went to the bar of the hotel and drank beer while waiting for their victim who went out for an assignment. 

 

Ater he returned at about 7.45pm, the gunmen rushed towards him, shot him twice in his chest and lower abdomen, leaving him dead.

 

Corpse of the deceased who is from Igbomotoru in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state, has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in the state capital after he was confirmed dead in a nearby hospital he was rushed to. 

 

The spokesman for the State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident when contacted. He said the command had commenced an investigation into the murder of the deceased.
