Court remands man for allegedly def!ling teenager in Lagos

An Ikeja  Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand of Jonathan Oludare, 32, charged with def!ling a 16-year-old girl.

 

Oludare, a resident of Ijora Badia was charged with a one count of def!lement.

 

The Chief Magistrate, E. Kubeinje who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered his remand in a Correctional facility in Lagos.

 

Kubeinje  subsequently adjourned the matter until  November 5, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

 

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 8, at Isale Street, Ijora Badia, Lagos.

 

Iberedem said that  Oludare forcefully had s@xual intercourse with  the minor without her consent.

 

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

The section stipulates life imprisonment for any one found guilty of def!ling a minor.
