LIVE: Dragons denied ‘amazing’ try from kickoff

Storm star Ryan Papenhuyzen is set to make his long-awaited return from injury for Melbourne’s clash with the Titans after getting through Friday’s captain’s run unscathed.

Papenhuyzen’s comeback would end a period of more than 400 days since his last NRL appearance after suffering a gruesome knee injury in round 18 last year.

The 25-year-old shattered his kneecap while making a tackle on Canberra’s Jack Wighton and underwent surgery. He then endured a year-long “lonely” rehab period.

The Storm have confirmed that Papenhuyzen will come off the interchange bench in jersey No.19, though it is not known what role coach Craig Bellamy has in mind for the fullback.

Papenhuyzen has played the last three weeks with Melbourne’s feeder side, Sunshine Coast Falcons, in the Queensland Cup, and has looked good with a try, several assists, and a field goal.
