Lagos govt arrests beggars and their children constituting public nuisance (video)

The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce continued its raid against persons constituting public nuisance across the metropolis on Tuesday, November 17.

 

The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who disclosed this on X, said major routes raided include Awolowo Way up to Falomo roundabout, Ikoyi and Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, along Lekki road. This was an act to eliminate destitute and miscreants causing public nuisance in these areas.

 

He said 27 persons including 15 minors involved in the unlawful act of street begging in the middle of vehicular traffic hold-ups were apprehended during the operation.

 

Wahab added that all suspects will be transferred to appropriate government facilities in line with relevant enabling laws.
