Eddie set to ditch Wallabies for top job in Japan

Eddie Jones looks set to resign from his post as the Wallabies head coach.

According to Japanese outlet Sponichi, Jones is expected to be confirmed as Japan’s head coach.

It comes just days after Australia was sensationally knocked out of the Rugby World Cup after Portugal’s one-point win over Fiji.

Jones has been the subject of intense speculation after The Sydney Morning Herald revealed he had been interviewed for the Japan job in the lead-up to the World Cup.

Jones denied the reports but was non-committal when asked whether he would be coaching beyond 2023.

Japan’s incumbent coach Jamie Joseph is set to finish up at the end of this year.
