Delta State Security Forces Arrest Notorious Kidnapper

Delta State’s SafeCity Security Service, in partnership with the state police command, has apprehended Abubakar Usman, a well-known bandit linked to multiple kidnapping incidents.

The arrest follows the July 2 abduction of Blessing Chiedu, a resident of Umunede Kingdom, along the Ani-Ifekide Farm Road in Ubulu-Uku. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of 100 million naira from her family.

Harrison Gwamnishu, spokesperson for SafeCity Security Service, announced the arrest via a post on the social media platform X. He stated that upon receiving the kidnapping report, he alerted the Delta State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, which is based in Asaba.

Led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Osakpolor, the squad utilized their Hydra Tech Surveillance System to initiate a coordinated rescue operation. Chiedu was successfully rescued unharmed along the Ubulu-Unor/Ashama Road.

Following her rescue, law enforcement launched a manhunt for the remaining kidnappers. Their efforts led to the discovery of the gang’s hideout in the Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta Forest early Wednesday morning.

A gun battle ensued as the security team confronted the criminals. Usman was captured during the exchange, while other gang members managed to escape into the forest.

Investigations have indicated that Usman and his gang are responsible for numerous kidnappings across Igbodo, Umunede, and surrounding regions, extorting millions of naira from victims’ families.
