Governor Sani alleges that opposition are taking advantage of protests for political revenge, admits APC members suggested organizing counter-protests

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has alleged that opposition politicians are using the #EndBadGovernance protests as a platform for “political revenge” after losing recent elections.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain made these claims during an appearance on Channels Television on Friday, August 2.

Governor Sani accused members of the opposition of mobilising vulnerable individuals to join the protests, which have been characterized by demands for better governance and economic reforms. He urged opposition politicians to wait until the next general elections to “change the government through the ballot.”

Sani criticized some protest leaders for allegedly leaving the demonstrations to children instead of leading from the front. Reflecting on his past as an activist during Nigeria’s military era, he recalled physically leading protests against military excesses and facing detention as a result.

The governor also revealed that some of his party members suggested organizing counter-protests, an idea he rejected. He emphasized his respect for the right to protest, which he had exercised during the military regime.
