'Cheer' star Jerry Harris pays $45k following judgment in child p0rn case

Former “Cheer” star Jerry Harris has made a significant payment towards his legal obligations while serving time behind bars.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Harris has paid a total of $45,200, which includes approximately $35,000 to the AVAA Crime Victims Fund and another $10,000 to the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act Fund.

Harris, who gained fame through the Netflix series “Cheer,” was convicted of receiving child p0rn0graphy and travelling with the intent to engage in illicit s3xual conduct. His case highlighted serious issues of child exploitation and abus3 within the cheerleading community.

He was also ordered to pay more than $135k in restitution to the victims themselves. It’s unclear if he’s paid that as well at this point. Federal investigators began looking into Harris in 2019, and they discovered he was soliciting s3x from min0rs at cheer competitions and coercing teen boys to send inappropriate photos.

Harris pled guilty in 2022 to one count of receipt of child p0rn0graphy and one count of travelling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. Prosecutors recommended Harris serve 15 years, but the judge sentenced him to 12.

Monica Aldama, Harris’ cheerleading coach expressed her shock at the time, writing on social media about how children needed to be protected from abuse and exploitation. Her own son was subsequently charged with possessing child p0rn0graphy earlier this year.
