Undercover Tomic booted from crowd for heckling rival

Bernard Tomic has been sensationally booted from the stands of a tournament in the Dominican Republic for heckling the player who’d beaten him two days earlier.

Tomic was knocked out of the RD Open in Santo Domingo in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 by Ecuadorian lucky loser Andres Andrade in the quarter final on Friday morning (AEST).

Andrade won his semi-final the following day, and met Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Damir Dzumhur in the final.

But Tomic, clearly still bitter from the loss, returned to the venue and sat in the stands for the final to heckle Andrade.

Eyewitnesses said Tomic even moved around the venue between games to ensure he was always at the same end as Andrade.

He was eventually confronted by tournament officials and removed early in the second set, which prompted a massive cheer from the crowd.

“I want this guy to be taken out,” Andrade could be heard saying as Tomic was escorted out.

The chair umpire responded by telling him he had been removed, and would be spoken to again should he return.

Andrade lost the final in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

It’s the latest in a career full of bizarre lows from a man once predicted to be a multiple grand slam winner.

Once ranked No.17 in the world rankings, Tomic now sits at No.250. He hasn’t been inside the top-100 since 2019.

His win-loss on the Challenger Tour this year is 12-13.

At a tournament in Arkansas in June, while the world’s best were playing at the French Open, Tomic quit mid-match after getting into a bizarre argument with his girlfriend.

His last tournament win came in a lowly ITF tournament in Chennai, India in January on Australia Day weekend.
