Two bandits killed, two kidnap victims rescued in Kwara
A security team consisting of operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and forest guards rescued two individuals from a forest in the Oba Isin/Owa Onire area of the Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Kwara State on Thursday.
The victims, identified as 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and her five-year-old brother, Ibrahim Azeez, were reported safe following the operation, according to local authorities.
During the rescue, the security team engaged with armed bandits, resulting in the deaths of two assailants. Others reportedly fled the scene with serious injuries.
The operation also yielded significant evidence, including an AK-47 rifle, a single-barrel gun, a fully loaded magazine with nine rounds, a mini-solar panel, and various food items.
This successful mission is part of the government’s broader multi-agency initiative aimed at countering terrorism and kidnapping in the region, a source confirmed.
