Delta State Police Emphasize Importance of Interagency Cooperation in Security Efforts
The Delta State Police Command underscored the critical need for collaboration among security and intelligence agencies in addressing contemporary security challenges.
Commissioner of Police Yemi John Oyeniyi made this statement on Tuesday during a visit from participants of the Advanced Defence Intelligence Officers Course (ADIOC) 16/2026, who were on a Nigeria Study Tour from the Defence Intelligence College in Abuja. The group of 20, led by Commandant Commodore U.N. Bugaje, was welcomed by Oyeniyi and members of the command management team.
During his presentation on “Strengthening National Resilience Through Integrated, Multi-Agency Coordination and Regional Security Cooperation,” Oyeniyi emphasized the necessity for security agencies to collaborate effectively. He called for timely intelligence sharing and coordinated responses to various security threats.
Oyeniyi also highlighted the significant achievements of the Delta State Police Command, providing examples that illustrate the benefits of intelligence-led policing and interagency cooperation in reducing crime within the state.
Following the presentation, participants engaged in a discussion, posing questions related to policing, intelligence gathering, crime prevention, and security operations. Oyeniyi, along with senior officers, addressed these inquiries.
The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to collaborating with other security and intelligence agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property in the region.
