Gunmen raided Kwankwashe, Niger State, in the wee hours of Wednesday, August 4, and abducted residents, including children. The victims were taken from 3 houses and a hotel within Unguwar Fulani area of the metropolitan town, a witness told DailyTrust. A resident, Faith Lucky, whose two children – a 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy – were taken, said she became aware of the presence of the bandits when they started hitting her house gate. She said it took them about 20 minutes to pull down the gate. 
She narrated: “I woke up my children immediately and made an attempt to glance toward them through my window. But within a few minutes they rushed towards there and broke part of the window’s burglary. “They flashed light, and pointed a gun towards me, directing that I should open the room’s door.” She said the kidnappers forced them to surrender their phones and money, before leaving with the two children. Another woman said the gunmen arrived her compound around 1 am, and that she, along with her husband, were able to escape. She said the attackers were able to reach the section where her visiting mother and brother-in-law were. “So my brother-in-law remained with mama who could not move away. That was how they abducted him and also took our other belongings like phones, laptops, as well as clothes and shoes,” the woman said. Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has filed a lawsuit in New York Federal court against the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) after he was convicted of bribery. Recall CAS had alleged that a match-fixer tried to involve Siasia as a coach of a club under his (fixer’s) strict directives in 2010. It was alleged that he was promised employment benefits if he fielded some players under the control of the match-fixer. According to CAS, negotiations between the match-fixer and Siasia about the terms of employment were carried out by email for two months, but negotiation collapsed after the unnamed club failed to accept the former Flying Eagles gaffer’s requests. He was initially handed a life ban for accepting to “receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches”, an allegation he denied. In June, CAS reduced the life ban to 5 years, and overturned a fine of $5000 imposed on the former Nigerian striker by FIFA after an appeal. In a lawsuit filed Monday in New York federal court, the former Nigerian international claims only the US Government can charge him. However, Siasia wants his conviction overturned, the $50,000 fine he paid returned, his five-year coaching ban reversed and damages awarded for the alleged civil rights violations, according to the Atlanta resident’s court papers. “In convicting Siasia of bribery, FIFA relied on Swiss bribery law. If any crime was committed, only the FBI or Georgia State Police could investigate and bring charges of commercial bribery,” his suit says, adding that “Georgia does not criminalize commercial bribery.” Siasia said FIFA violated his rights to due process under the Fifth and 14th Amendments when it convicted him for his minor role in a wide-ranging conspiracy to fix hundreds of matches by paying off corrupt players and officials. His suit also stated that FIFA’s imposing the fine and revoking his license constituted “cruel and unusual punishment” barred by the Eighth Amendment. The coach was licensed through the United States Soccer Federation, a FIFA affiliate, in 2009. Justice Ladiean Akintola of Oyo High Court has granted an ex-parte motion restraining the Department of State Security (DSS) and Attorney General of the Federation from arresting, intimidating, harassing, and blocking bank accounts of Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho. Recall that DSS officials raided his Ibadan home on July 1, arrested twelve of his supporters and declared him wanted. Igboho who fled the country afterwards through his lawyer, Yomi Aliyu, filed a N500 million lawsuit against the DSS over the invasion of his residence. At the hearing of the suit this morning, the court granted the order to stop the DSS from arresting or intimidating the activist following an ex-parte motion moved by Aliyu. Aliu expressed confidence the AGF Abubakar Malami (SAN) will not disobey the court order, stressing that it was given directly against his office. Zimbabwe, known for its exotic wildlife and animal reserves has denied reports that it plans to be exporting live elephants to other countries for money.Experts believe Zimbabwe and neighbouring Botswana could be home to about half of Africa’s 400,000 elephants.According to Zimbabwe’s wildlife authority, doing so will be going against the advice of conservation groups. Releasing a statement on Wednesday, August 4, the Wildlife authority said that allegations by some NGOs that the process of capturing the animals had begun were “speculative and baseless”.“Zimbabwe is not considering any live African elephant exports and the country has not processed any export trade permits since 2019,” the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) said.Its spokesman Tinashe Farawo said they were not planning to capture elephants “now or in the near future” – noting that the authority was recently collaring the animals to monitor their movements.According to Tinashe, human-elephant conflicts had claimed dozens of lives and that Zimparks was exploring new ways to end the problem. A young mother, Jacqueline Flores was shot inside of her car while her six-year-old daughter sat in the backseat.According to a report by PEOPLE, Flores, 25, died of her injuries last week Friday night after suffering a gunshot wound to her head on Tuesday.The attack happened while her car was parked . The bullet went through the rear window of her car near where her daughter sat but the little girl was not injured.The report says investigators believe Flores was not the intended target of the shooter and it is possible that the ‘senseless act of violence’ was a case of mistaken identity. Flores was ‘ fighting for her life and listed in grave condition’ on Thursday night. But ultimately, the shot to her head led to her death.She was a college student at California State University Fresno.Her surviving cousin, Odalis Tepec told KGPE that Flores did not deserve to die that way and that she was a dedicated parent.‘To me, she was like a big sister. Every time I needed someone to talk to, she was always there,’ Tepec told the station. ‘It was hard to believe. It felt like it could have been a dream, like, we just had to wake up. Kenyan socialite, Vera Sidika has dismissed claim of undergoing a butt lift surgery. Sidika in a Question and Answer session she had with her fans, revealed that she only altered her breasts size, teeth and skin complexion. The socialite added that she will be going for a small butt after giving birth. She wrote; “My booty is natural. But my boobs, teeth and skin complexion are fake. In fact, hopefully after delivery, I’d want a smaller booty. Honestly, it’s too big. I don’t like it.” 
Making a clarification on how she will be feeding her child with a breast implant, Sidika disclosed that the implant was placed in an empty pocket space which does not interface with the breast tissues. She wrote; “Doesn’t affect nothing. During breast augmentation, it’s normally placed in an empty pockets space and it doesn’t evet affect or come in contact with breast tissues.” She also revealed that she is now legally married to musician Frederick Mtinda, alias Brown Mauzo. Sidika added; “Wedding ceremony. If you’re talking about that which involves me in a white wedding gown and bae in a tuxedo, we haven’t done that yet. Legally married? Yes, we are. Transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard has announced she will retire after making Olympics history as the first openly transgender woman to compete in the Games. The 43-year-old, who transitioned in 2012, competed in the 87kg+ category but failed to record a single valid ‘snatch’ lift in Tokyo. She crashed out of the Olympics after making history as the first trans woman to compete in a solo event. She overbalanced on her opening weight of 120kg, taking the bar behind her shoulders. Hubbard’s second effort of 125kg was ruled invalid on a majority decision by the referees. The third attempt was almost a repeat of the first, ruling Hubbard out of medal contention. Her participation also sparked a firestorm of debate about transgender participation in women’s sport. The ‘intensely private’ Hubbard said she was now ready to step away from the spotlight. “Age has caught up with me. In fact, if we’re being honest it probably caught up with me some time ago,” said Hubbard, who at 43 was more than 20 years older than most of her rivals. “My involvement in sport is probably due, if nothing else, to heroic amounts of anti-inflammatories, and it’s probably time for me to start thinking about hanging up the boots and concentrating on other things in my life.” Hubbard praised the IOC for showing “moral leadership” in adopting inclusive polices that allowed her to participate at the Games. “I’m not sure that a role model is something I could ever aspire to be, instead I hope that just by being I can provide some sense of encouragement,” she told reporters. Five persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of the Abuja celebrity chef, Emeka Eloagu. Eloagu was found dead in his Katampe extension home in Abuja on Sunday, August 1. His wife had returned home from a church programme and found his lifeless body. Unconfirmed reports claim he was tied and strangled by some persons who he allegedly granted access into his apartment. Five persons have been arrested so far and transferred to the Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department where an investigation is ongoing. 23 people have died as a result of the outbreak of gastroenteritis, also known as stomach flu, in some communities in Sokoto State. Commissioner for Health in the state, Mohammed Iname confirmed the deaths on Tuesday August 3. 260 people in 13 out of the 23 local government areas of the state have been infected with the disease. Some of the affected local government areas are Dange/Shuni, Kebne, Gwadabawa, Tangaza, Isa, Bodinga, Wamakko, and Silame. Gwadabawa Local Government Area recorded the highest infection rate with over 47 confirmed cases. Iname who asked residents to be very careful during this period as the disease is highly contagious and easily transmitted from person to person through casual contact, called for limitation in rate of visitation to affected areas as this has been discovered to be a major source of transmission. A 42-year-old man has allegedly killed his wife before committing suicide at their home in Kiambu County, Kenya. According to a police report on the incident, Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga, who was a licensed firearm holder, was said to have shot his 30-year-old wife in the head before taking his own life using the same weapon. The lifeless bodies of the two were found in their bedroom which had been locked from inside on Tuesday evening, August 3. 
This was after Mukundi’s friend reported to Kiambu police station at around 6pm that the deceased was not picking his calls which he found suspicious. “Together with the officers from Kiambu police station proceeded to his house where the bedroom was found locked from inside. The door was broken where the bodies of the said Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga a kikuyu male adult aged 42 years and his wife namely Phelomena Njeri adult aged around 30 years were found lifeless,” reads the police report. The bodies of the deceased were moved to Kenyatta Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy. Police recovered a mini glock gun from the incident. The motive behind the incident could not be immediately establibled.

Nigeria has exited the Maritime Organisation for West and Central Africa (MOWCA). Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Eric Ojiekwe said the decision was taken following disregard for Rules of Procedure regarding the eligibility of candidates nominated for the position of the Secretary-General of the organisation. Ojiekwe said this followed the presentation for election for the position of Secretary-General of overaged candidates by Guinea and the Republic of Benin. According to him, the candidate nominated by Nigeria was 55 years as at when nominations closed in 2020 while the candidates of Guinea was 60 years old and that of Benin was 62 years old. He noted that the Nigerian candidate and Director of Maritime Services at the Ministry of Transportation, Dr Paul Adalikwu was the only eligible candidate and should have been declared unopposed. Ojiekwe reiterated that no member state has supported MOWCA as much as Nigeria, as the country has contributed over $5 million in the past 10 years with the organisation. Governor Aminu Masari has fired back at critics of the N6.25 billion Katsina cattle ranch project by President Muhammadu Buhari administration. The Katsina state Governor was reacting to calls for probe of the project by some civil society organisations. The groups had said that it was illegal for President Buhari to dip hands into public coffers to sponsor private businesses without recourse to due process. However speaking at a stakeholders’ workshop organised by the office of the Special Assistant (SA) to the governor on Livestock and Grazing Reserves in Katsina, Masari stated that there was nothing wrong with such project. Embattled police officer, Abba Kyari has deleted the Facebook post in which he explained what transpired between him and Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi after being indicted in an international fraud case. Recall that shortly after report of Kyari being indicted in a fraud involving Hushuppi and his gang members went viral, he put up a Facebook post on July 29 claiming that he only received money from Hushpuppi for a traditional outfit and not to arrest his friend. Though he admitted arresting Hushpuppi’s friend as reported by US authorities, he however stated that Hushpuppi’s friend was released after investigation revealed that the case was a business deal which went wrong. An elderly woman identified as Mrs Anna was among eight people killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Okpokwu Mgbuji community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, on Sunday, August 1. Read previous report HERE The deceased was said to have recently buried her daughter, Chinyere Ede and son-in-law, Japhet Ede, who were killed in earlier attack carried out by herdsmen in the community. It was gathered that the couple were killed alongside two others on May 27, 2021, at Okpokwu Mgbuji. They were laid to rest on July 22. Trouble reportedly started when the herders were stopped from cutting down an economic tree to feed their cattle. The interruption led to heated argument between the community members and the herders. It was further learnt that the community members succeeded in pursuing the Fulani herders and their cattle from further destruction of the economic tree. However, the herders later re-grouped in a calculated revenge mission, and attacked the community, killing several people.

A 14-year-old boy who was kidnapped on Monday, August 2, has narrated his ordeal in the kidnapper’s den and how he escaped from captivity. Felix Adekunle, who hawks slippers on the streets in Owo, Ondo State, narrated how he was lured by the kidnappers. Felix said he was tricked by the three men before they bundled him into a waiting car. He said: “The incident happened on Monday when I was hawking slippers around the community and when I was leaving Okemapo area I saw the three men who told me some of my wares had fallen. “I tried to look for it and in the process, they dragged me into a tinted Toyota Camry car and I slept off. It was in the building that I woke up and found myself in a blue dilapidated building inside the forest. “I saw a woman crying with her hands tied backwards sitting by a headless body of a young person who she told me was her child. “I could not see anyone but I was hearing the men’s voices inside the house. The woman told me to remove the rope they used to tie her and we fled together. “While fleeing, the woman fell and gave me N500 while she urged me to keep running and escape from the forest. I heard gunshots from the house while I was running which made me run as faster as I could. “When I got to the main road, I was tired and saw some people selling bread by the roadside and narrated my ordeal to them. They called the officials of Amotekun who responded swiftly and took me to their office.” The mother of the boy, Mrs Abosede Adekunle, said a search party had been organised by the family when her son did not return home on time. She said: “We are supposed to get a call from Amotekun office that we should report to their office. But later I received a call from the office of the Amotekun informing me that my boy was kidnapped but had been rescued.” The Commander of Amotekun in the state, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, who confirmed the incident, said the boy was handed over to his mother in Akure, on Monday evening. He said: “We got a distress call that some vehicles drove recklessly along Benin/Owo road. While tracing the vehicle we later ran into the young boy who said he was running away from three kidnappers from Owo. “The victim also explained that the only thing he could remember was a Camry car without a plate number and having tinted glasses. He added that he became unconscious immediately he was pushed into the car. “He explained to us that the area, where he was kidnapped from, was isolated as he could not call on anyone. The model, @Naraozim had said that she had wanted to warn the photographer about it on set but thought it would disrupt the photoshoot. She also claimed that her assistant saw what was happening and they have proof of what happened. 
When pressurred to present the evidence she claimed she had, the model shared a video on her Twitter page.

Rudy Rochman said during the interview: “We just went through 3 weeks in a cage locked up for no reason. We did nothing wrong. We just came there to show the stories of the Jewish life in Nigeria – the Igbos – and though we were not able to do our full project, we’re still not gonna stop and we’re still going to share the stories and showcase that they get recognition and that people understand who they are. “But, obviously, we’re very tired and very happy to be back home.” Noam, the third man detained by the DSS, later joined in on the interview and expressed regrets that they couldn’t complete the project that brought them to Nigeria. He added that though they couldn’t get it done now, “we’re not giving up for the future.” The men said they made it clear via their social media account before their arrest that they were not affiliated to any secessionist movement, yet that didn’t stop their arrest. They were arrested by “about a dozen armed men in ski masks” who told them they were just going to take them in for questioning for “30 minutes”. However, the men said they ended up keeping them all night and made them sleep on the floor. “We ended up staying there the entire night and then the next morning, they wake us up from sleeping on the floor,” Rudy Rochman said, adding, “They stuff us back with black ski masks at gun point into cars and they took us 9 hour drive to Abuja, very dangerous drive, just swerving and speeding all over. And then we find ourselves 20 days, locked up in a cage over there.” Rochamn alleged that due process was not followed and they were not officially arrested or accused, yet they were treated like criminals. He continued: “And at no point were we actually arrested. They didn’t tell us that we were accused of something, they didn’t tell us you’re officially arrested of something. And their status of ‘invited’ is what allows them to not allow us to have a lawyer, not allow us to have a phone call, not allow us to have any rights…” He said that they told the security operatives that since they were not under arrest, they should let them go but the men told them, “if you go, then we’ll stop you.” Rochman added that they tried to leave a few times but “they jumped on us and threw us back into the cage.” Watch the video below. 7 people are feared to have died on Tuesday, August 3, after a fight broke out between some Hausa and Yoruba motorcycle riders in Ogun State. The violence started between the Okada riders and the union leaders. Union leaders had increased the ticket fee from N600 to N800 and okada riders operating at the Factory junction at Ibese, Yewa North Local Government Area, objected to the hike. This quickly degenerated into an ethnic crisis between the Hausas and the Yorubas in the area. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Tuesday, August 3. Speaking, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that he could not confirm the number of casualties at the moment. Oyeyemi said, “The issue is currently under control. At least 17 Corps members deployed to Edo State for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been admitted to the hospital after they showed symptoms of COVID-19. They were admitted to Stella Obasanjo Hospital on Sapele Road, Benin, Edo State for treatment. Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Edo Government-owned hospital, Dr. Osagie Ebomwonyi, who spoke while in the company of Governor Godwin Obaseki during an inspection tour of the state’s infectious disease isolation centre at the hospital in Benin, stated that even though the cases were unvaccinated, they were undertaking studies and analysis to find out if there was Delta variant in the state. Edo Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Personal Assistant, Mr. Ozeto Waheed, confirmed the 17 Corps members were mobilised to serve in the South-south state. Waheed disclosed the deployed corps members, as instructed by Edo coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Abiodun Olubukola, were always first tested at the gate of the orientation camp while those who tested positive for COVID-19 were usually moved to the isolation centre. Obaseki confirmed the readiness of his administration to effectively deal with the Delta variant of COVID-19 while insisting there had been no confirmed case of the variant in Edo. Nigerian Athlete, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has shared a footage of him washing his jersey at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, revealing that only one jersey was given to him to wear through out the competition. Enekwechi further exposing the harsh conditions Nigerian athletes have been facing at the tournament. 
Despite leading Nigeria to the last round of the shotput event at the Olympics, where he stands a chance to win a Gold medal this Thursday, August 5, Enekwechi disclosed in a TikTok video shared on his Instagram page that he only has one jersey and has to wash it at night in preparation for the next game. Other prominent athletes including sprint star, Blessing Okagbare and Basketball giant, Chimezie Metu have also spoken out about the problems Nigerian athletes face during the Olympics. Senator Shehu Sani has stated that North Eastern Nigeria would be a safe place if the government spent a fraction of the time spent on fighting self determination agitations on bandits. Sani stated that Kaduna ‘is under siege’ by bandits and criminal elements and that because banditry and kidnapping have become very lucrative, stopping it now will be very hard. Speaking to SunNewsOnline, Sani said;”Kaduna is a state under siege; armed bandits have taken over most parts of the state, they are impoverishing our people by forcing them to sell their homes, land and other property in order to pay ransom to get their loved ones freed. “”They have destroyed our agricultural system in the sense that farmers can no longer go to their farms. Our educational system has been disrupted because of the activities of these bandits. They have become more daring and audacious that in some places, they go about collecting taxes. They have become a state within a state; that is the sad situation we found ourselves in.” “Kidnapping has become a lucrative business in the North West part of Nigeria whereby they have become an authority onto themselves. In our own state Kaduna, hardly a day goes by without reported cases of kidnapping. In fact, the ones that are reported are when the numbers are much not when they are three or four.””The sad thing is that the kingpins of those involved in these kidnapping businesses are known; if the security agencies don’t go after them, we won’t get an end to kidnappings in the North East. These kidnappers don’t have a central command and control, they control various territories and they sometimes trade their hostages between themselves.”” When they kidnap a victim and the ransom is not paid on time, they trade the victim to another kidnapper who will increase the ransom to be paid. The government should be serious in terms of apprehending these gang leaders because until they are apprehended, we will not get to the bottom of these matters and the kidnapping business is not going to stop.””The kidnappers are not like Boko Haram or Islamic State of west African Province, (ISWAP) that has a leader you can talk to. The kidnappers and bandits exist in clusters and the tendency of them violating whatever agreement you reach with them is very high. A passenger was taped to his plane seat after he touched two flight attendants’ breasts and punched a male flight attendant Max Berry, a 22-year old from Ohio, had reportedly already had at least two drinks when the incident occurred. It is also said that he claimed that his parents were worth two million dollars as he carried out the drunken attacks. 
Berry shouting at airline staff According to a Miami-Dade County Police report, Berry brushed his empty cup against a flight attendant’s buttocks as he demanded another drink. She told him not to touch her, but eventually gave him the drink. However, Berry then went on to spill his new drink on himself. Berry then went to the plane’s toilet to change but came out topless and airline staff had to help him get a dry shirt out of his carry-on bag and put it on. It was at about this point, according to police reports, that Berry “came up from behind” and put his arms around two female flight attendants and groped their breasts. A scuffle then ensued and, according to passenger Alfredo Rivera, who was seated immediately behind Berry, the 22-year-old then punched a male flight attendant in the face. “He was starting to get aggressive and basically attacked the male flight attendant,” Mr Rivera said. Airline staff eventually used duct tape to secure Berry to his seat. 
When the plane landed Berry was met by Miami police, who handcuffed him and took him into custody. Frontier Airlines, operator of the Philadelphia to Miami service, issued the following statement: “During a flight from Philadelphia to Miami on July 31, a passenger made inappropriate physical contact with a flight attendant and subsequently physically assaulted another flight attendant. “As a result, the passenger needed to be restrained until the flight landed in Miami and law enforcement arrived. “The flight attendants will be, as required in such circumstances, relieved of flying pending completion of investigation of the events.”

The North Korean leader was first seen at the end of July when he attended a series of events including a military parade and meeting with veterans. The apparent wound was seen uncovered or covered by a coloured plaster. 
There has been speculation about the 37-year-old’s health since his apparent weight loss left him “looking emaciated” 
Back in June, State media described Kim as ’emaciated’ and ‘breaking our people’s hearts,’ in an apparent effort to evoke sympathy for the despot who has admitted publicly to a ‘great crisis’ brought about by the pandemic. Two suspected kidnappers have been shot dead while collecting ransom in Sabongida town in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State. It was gathered that the suspects had abducted an elderly man identified as Alhaji Gambo and demanded ransom from his family. The suspected kidnappers simply identified as Sani and Musa had reportedly instructed the family of their victim to bring the ransom money to a location. Vigilantes in the area were informed and they went to the location to lay an ambush for the criminals. The kidnappers who were well armed arrived there, unknown to them that the vigilantes were around and two of the criminals were said to have been gunned down while picking the money. The elderly man, who was brought to the scene, was rescued by the vigilante. A source in the area also told Daily Trust that the late kidnappers had killed many people in Borno-Korokoro,Tella, Sabongida, Dananacha and other surrounding villages as well as along Jalingo–Wukari road, all in Taraba. Chairman of the National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) Buba Marwa has raised has raised an alarm of the South-West region of the country having the highest rate of drug abuse. Speaking during a visit to the Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Marwa said the southwest is rated at 22.4% which is the highest in the country. He called for support and understanding of the Ogun state government in the reduction of 17% drug prevalence in the state. Marwa said; “With the high prevalence of drug abuse in the country, I want to solicit your excellency’s support in combating the menace in the state. Three more abducted students of the Bethel Baptist Secondary school in Kaduna State have been found. The three students who are all males were found by at the Kankumi forest general area in Chikun local government by the military. Channels TV reports that after their kidnap from their school on July 5, they were reportedly kidnapped again by another group of bandits while wandering inside the forest. The second set of bandits were said to have renegotiated and collected ransom from the parents of the three students, after which they dumped them inside the forest before they were found by troops. The military is yet to release an official statement on this development.
