Rapper DaBaby avoids jail time by settling sucker-punch lawsuit from 2020 music video shoot

Rapper DaBaby has avoided jail time after settling a civil lawsuit stemming from an alleged assault during a chaotic 2020 music video shoot.

The incident took place at a California home owned by Gary Pagar, who had accused the artist of assaulting him during the production of Stunna 4 Vegas’ “Play You Lay” video.

Court documents filed on Friday, September 27, reveal that DaBaby, a Diamond-selling rap star, and Pagar have reached a global settlement to resolve the entire dispute. Both parties have requested that the courts cancel any future conference dates, signaling that the final settlement papers are being prepared to close the case.

The lawsuit arose from a heated altercation during the video shoot, where Pagar claimed DaBaby attacked him after a disagreement over filming regulations. Pagar alleged that he lost a tooth when he was punched in the face.

DaBaby, who has been quick to put the legal troubles behind him, dropped a new project titled “How TF Is This A Mixtape?” on Friday, showing he’s already moved past the incident.
