Inciting Anarchy is irresponsible – FG knocks Rotimi Amaechi for questioning the lack of protests by Nigerian youths over high cost of living

The Federal Government has rebuked Rotimi Amaechi for urging Nigerian youth to protest against the high cost of living affecting the nation.

In a recent interview, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi voiced his frustration over the lack of significant public reaction to Nigeria’s economic difficulties, particularly from the youth.

The government, through a statement by SA on Information Bayo Onanuga, labeled Amaechi as unpatriotic, criticizing his reliance on state resources throughout his adult life.

ROTIMI AMAECHI’S CALL FOR PROTEST IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNPATRIOTIC

From his luxurious position, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, former Minister of Transport and Governor of Rivers state, recently chastised Nigerian youth for not protesting the high cost of living to his satisfaction.

Amaechi’s remarks are insensitive and unpatriotic, especially given his long tenure in various political offices, including two terms as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two terms as Governor, and two terms as Minister of Transport.

For most of his adult life, Amaechi has benefited significantly from state resources. His attempt to incite public unrest under the guise of empathy is hypocritical and dangerous.

If those in power are indeed corrupt, as Amaechi suggested, it is puzzling that he struggles to afford basic necessities like diesel just two years after serving in various high-ranking positions for over two decades.

Amaechi and other critics like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are likely disgruntled by their absence from the current administration. However, the electorate made their choice, and Nigerians are aware that the economic challenges accompanying necessary reforms are temporary.

These critics, who did little to improve the economy while in power, now offer endless advice on governance. It seems they only discover their talents for leadership when they are out of office. They are a group of naysayers, blind to any progress made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Amaechi should focus on addressing the issues in Rivers State, where he once governed, rather than inciting national unrest. Exploiting citizens’ economic struggles for political gain is irresponsible and unpatriotic.

We urge Nigerians to reject Amaechi’s call for unrest and continue to support President Tinubu’s efforts to transform the nation’s economy for the benefit of all.
