Six Abducted Worshippers Freed in Ondo State

Six worshippers abducted from a Celestial Church in the Uso community of Owo Local Council Area, Ondo State, have been released. Their freedom was secured Monday night in the Ilado community, Akure North Local Council Area.

Sources indicate that a ransom of 9 million Naira was paid to the abductors for the victims’ release. The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, confirmed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Lawal highlighted the troubling fact that among the abducted were five pregnant women and one individual with a physical disability. He expressed concern over the use of a church premises as a de facto maternity center.

In light of the recent kidnapping, Lawal has recommended that religious centers temporarily suspend night worship services amid ongoing security challenges within the state.
