Adamawa High Court dismisses suit challenging creation of Fufore Emirate

Adamawa High Court Dismisses Suit Challenging Fufore Emirate Creation
YOLA, Nigeria — An Adamawa High Court, led by Justice Musa Usman, has dismissed a legal challenge against the establishment of the Fufore Emirate.
The court ruled that the plaintiffs failed to demonstrate any legal grounds for the challenge, which arose following the creation of the emirate by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. This decision came after the Adamawa State House of Assembly passed the necessary legislation.
Justice Usman highlighted that the plaintiffs did not submit the required one-month pre-action notice to the defendants, nor was there any evidence that such a notice had been filed or served.
The plaintiffs in the case—Musa Halilu Ahmed, Mustapha Dahiru, and Mustapha Ahmadu—contested the division of the Adamawa Emirate to create the Fufore Emirate. The defendants named in the suit included the Adamawa State Government, Governor Fintiri, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Emir of Fufore.
The litigants argued that the governor had not observed due process in forming the Fufore Emirate and sought a court ruling to declare the creation illegal and nullify it.
