Catastrophic Fire Destroys Fika Market in Yobe State
FIKA, Yobe State — A devastating fire broke out at the main market in Fika Local Government Area on Monday, causing extensive damage to local businesses and vital infrastructure.
Witnesses reported that the blaze not only destroyed significant portions of the market but also disrupted the livelihoods of many individuals who rely on it for daily sustenance. The fire erupted shortly after local authorities had discussed plans to support victims of previous fire incidents in Bukarti and other communities within Yunusari, Geidam, and Yusufari local government areas.
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the affected business operators. “The government stands firmly with you in this trying moment and will continue to provide the necessary support within available resources,” SEMA stated.
In light of the incident, the agency urged community members to remain vigilant, prioritize safety, and promptly report emergencies.
