Akzeal while narrating his musical background said “In my family when I was young, my dad used to play a lot of music more often than movies so I grew up listening to varieties of music.

“I started falling in love with Hip-hop and Reggae music when I was 12 years old. From then I’ve always wanted to be like the guys I see on TV and listen to on the radio.

“So I got inspired and started writing lyrics to instrumentals and imitating pop stars like 50Cent, Jay Z, Ja rule among others with my local friends, in the neighborhood. Until when I started university I wanted to take my music to the next level so I formed a crew of three rappers called ZEM CREW and started recording mixtapes and got better in it”.

Revealing how he gets inspiration to make music, he said “I get inspired a lot by happy and motivated people. Growing up I always think of myself as a voice of mankind, so I derive great joy and knowledge from all the natural events in people’s lives.”

Akzeal who describes his genre of music as Afrorap says his song mostly inspires the young African child with words of hope.

“I pick scenarios from occurring events and past African foes to aid this narration. If I’m not inspiring you to make money then I’m expressing love and motivating true love amongst the people”, he said.

On how he hopes to break into the oversaturated Nigerian music space, he said “I’m not here to compete with stars, I’m here to shine bright like a star.

“I intend to be myself and strive to make good inspiration melodies that will affect the African narrative positively. Every star has a space in the galaxy trust me”’ said Akzeal.
