Alleged Extortion: Call your task force to order – Activist urges Uvwie Council Chairman

Human Rights Activist Calls for Action Against Extortion in Uvwie
Human rights activist Israel Joe has called on the Chairman of the Uvwie Local Government Council to address concerns regarding the alleged extortion of residents by members of the council’s task force. He emphasized that such actions constitute a criminal offense.
Joe’s remarks followed his intervention in a case involving a woman named Eseoghene, from whom task force members allegedly extorted 300,000 naira. After recovering the funds, Joe announced he would return the money to her.
“We have successfully recovered the 300,000 naira that was extorted by the Uvwie Local Government Task Force,” Joe stated. “We are now handing it over to her.”
He further mentioned that Ossai Ovie had contacted him regarding the incident, and he assured Ovie of his commitment to recover the money.
Eseoghene expressed her appreciation for the assistance. “Thank you. I am grateful,” she said upon receiving the funds.
