Amaechi proved he is still ‘lion of Niger Delta’ by facing gunmen – Eze

Violence Erupts in Rivers State as Political Thugs Attack ADC Event
A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has praised former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi for his boldness during a violent attack on his community. Eze characterized Amaechi’s actions as emblematic of his reputation as “the Lion of the Niger Delta.” This comment came following an incident during Amaechi’s official registration as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Eze condemned the destruction of the ADC’s local secretariat, which he noted was targeted by armed assailants in the early hours of Friday. According to Eze, a group of political thugs invaded the ADC facility, causing extensive damage before igniting a fire that consumed the building. Reports indicate that the attack occurred shortly before Amaechi was set to arrive for the event.
Witnesses reported that the assault lasted over 30 minutes, with the assailants openly firing weapons in the vicinity. Following the initial attack, residents said the group returned early Friday morning to establish a roadblock on Omuawa–Ubima Road, preventing vehicles displaying ADC banners from entering the area.
Despite the threats and destruction, Eze stated that Amaechi exhibited remarkable courage by confronting the attackers. “Not minding the fact that they burnt his ward secretariat… Amaechi proved that he is still the Lion of the Niger Delta,” Eze remarked.
Eze described the attack as “dastardly” and “undemocratic,” calling for swift action from security agencies to hold those responsible accountable. He emphasized that such violence sets a concerning precedent in Nigeria’s political landscape.
During the event, Amaechi addressed his supporters, urging calm and advising them to avoid retaliatory violence in response to the attack.
