Tension Rises in Ibadan Following Murder of Local Woman
IBADAN, Oyo State — Tensions are escalating among residents of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, after the brutal killing of a local woman, identified as Mrs. Misitura Akanke. The incident took place on Wednesday in Oderemi village, located within the Ido Local Government Area.
According to reports, Akanke was attacked while gathering vegetables in a nearby bush. Details surrounding the incident suggest she was both raped and murdered, sparking widespread panic in the community due to the shocking nature of the crime.
Sources indicate that an officer from the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun, was injured while intervening in the situation.
Olayinka Ayanlade, the Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Police Command, confirmed the incident when contacted on Thursday. He noted that an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
“Investigations have commenced,” Ayanlade stated in response to inquiries.
Residents remain on edge as authorities work to address the violence in the area.
