Young Man Hospitalized After Armed Robbery in Makurdi

MAKURDI, Benue State — Geo Freeman, a young resident of Makurdi, has been hospitalized following a reported armed robbery that left him injured. According to his elder brother, Awar SteevoooFresh, Freeman was shot by gunmen who stole his motorcycle and mobile phone.

In a post on his official Facebook page, SteevoooFresh recounted that the incident took place within the Makurdi metropolis. Freeman is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital following the attack, which has sparked outrage on social media and renewed concerns about security in the area.

SteevoooFresh described his brother as a hardworking individual striving to make a living, lamenting the escalating insecurity affecting residents of Benue State. His post criticized the perceived increase in motorcycle theft and violent robberies perpetrated by criminal elements targeting unsuspecting individuals.

The incident has raised alarms about the ongoing issue of armed robbery and motorcycle snatching in Makurdi and beyond. Such events, often involving firearms, have left many victims injured and have heightened fears among commercial motorcyclists and young entrepreneurs who rely on motorcycles for their income.

In response to the growing crisis, community members and sympathizers have called for enhanced security measures and prompt action against the perpetrators. They stressed the need for citizens to pursue their livelihoods without the threat of violence.

As of now, Freeman is reportedly responding well to treatment, with prayers and messages of support flooding in from the community. Efforts to reach DSP Udeme Edet, spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, for comment on the incident were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
