Army arrests 3 suspects over possession weapon cache in Delta

Troops from Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe have arrested three suspects in possession of a significant cache of weapons. 

 

The suspects, identified as Abel Festus, Ramsey Akporoyibo, and Stephen Omah, were apprehended while traveling in a Lexus RX 350, with registration number YAB 347 CQ, in the Oghareki community of Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State.

 

According to a statement issued by Major Emmanuel Onoja, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the operation led to the discovery of five pump-action rifles, a Dane gun, a battle axe, and 51 cartridges.

 

“The suspects have been taken into custody to undergo thorough interrogation and further investigation,” Major Onoja stated.

 

This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the Joint Task Force to maintain peace and security in the region, which has seen an increase in arms-related incidents. Authorities are yet to disclose further details regarding the suspects’ intended use of the weapons or any possible affiliations with criminal groups.

 

The Joint Task Force remains committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and curbing illegal activities in the Niger Delta region. Further updates on the investigation are expected as it progresses.
