Ayra Starr Names Her Afrobeats Big 3 in Recent Interview
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has identified her top three Afrobeats artists, referring to them as her “Afrobeats Big 3.” In a recent interview with Hot 97 FM, she selected Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Rema as the most influential figures in the genre.
This choice notably excludes prominent artists Davido and Burna Boy, who are frequently regarded alongside Wizkid in discussions about the leading figures in Afrobeats.

“My Afrobeats Big 3 would be Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Rema. My solid Big 3,” Starr stated during the interview.
In addition, Ayra Starr shared insights into her recent move from Nigeria to New York, citing the influence of friends and a desire for cultural connection. She explained that her previous experiences in the city played a significant role in her decision.
“I spent the last two summers in New York, and last summer I lived in Hell’s Kitchen for about three months with my friends. We were watching American shows and movies. It was fun,” she said.
Starr added, “Growing up, I had always wanted to come to America. LA is too far; the time difference with Nigeria is nine hours. So, I chose New York.”
