Bauchi lawmaker laments kidnap and m8rder of his aide by one-chance criminals in Abuja despite ransom payment

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ismail Dabo Haruna, has lamented the kidnap and brutal m8rder of his legislative aide, Nimah Sulaiman, despite ransom payment.

LIB reported that Nimah was kidnapped and killed by suspected ‘one chance’ criminals in Abuja on October 17, 2024.

Moving a motion at plenary on Tuesday, October 22, Haruna, who represents Toro federal constituency of Bauchi State, said his legislative aide was brutally m8rdered on her way home to Jahi District.

The lawmaker said in recent years, the nation’s capital, Abuja, has experienced an uprising in the rate of kidnappings and robbery incidents, including “one chance”.

The lawmaker expressed worry that residents of the FCT were living in fear as the security of the nation’s seat of power continued to deteriorate as brutal criminals go about with their daily operations without mercy on citizens.

“One Miss Sulaiman, a Legislative Aide of Hon Dabo, was kidnapped and brutally m8rdered on Thursday 17th October, 2024 on her way home to Jahi District, around 6:15 pm, where she was taken at gunpoint at Bannex Junction in Wuse 2 by one-chance operators.

“Despite paying ransom in full, her life was tragically cut short. Her body was found between the hours of 9 to 10 pm at Maitama/Minister’s hill Bridge,” he said.

“This heinous crime has sent shockwaves through our community, confirming the escalating insecurity in the FCT. It is our collective responsibility as lawmakers to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.

The House therefore called on its Committees on Police, FCT and National Intelligence to conduct a comprehensive investigation and liaise with necessary stakeholders such as the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, the FCT Commissioner of Police, as well as the FCT Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure that the problem is brought to an end.

It also summoned the Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, and the Director-General of the State Security Service, Adeola Ajayi, to appear before the House committees on FCT, Police Affairs, and National Security and Intelligence.

It mandated its committee on FCT to investigate the widespread use of unregistered and unpainted taxis in Abuja and recommend measures to regulate their operations.
