Biden Calls Trump And Supporters ‘Twisted’ And ‘Un-American,’ Then Says He’ll Unite America

Joe Biden unleashed a fiery speech on the anniversary of the Capitol riot in which he blasted former President Trump and his supporters for having a “twisted” view of events from that day and suggested they are “un-American” for trying to suppress votes. He concluded by claiming he would unite America.

Biden used the phrase “former President” 16 times during his speech and immediately went on the attack against Trump by accusing him of having “rallied the mob to attack” that day.

He proceeded to slam Trump for continuing to spread election lies “because his bruised ego matters more to him than our democracy or our Constitution.”

Biden accused supporters of the former President of allegedly pushing a message that the true insurrection was on Election Day and that the fight for democracy took place on January 6th.

“That the riot that took place on January 6 is a true expression of the will of the people. Can you think of a more twisted way to look at this country, to look at America?” Biden asked.

Biden Insults Trump Supports, Says He Wants to Unite America

Biden shifted his speech to push Democrat attempts to nationalize elections and expand vote-by-mail access.

“Right now, in state after state, new laws are being written not to protect the vote, but to deny it. Not only to suppress the vote, but to subvert it,” Biden said.

He made that claim after boasting that a record 150 million Americans voted in the 2020 election, even as a pandemic was raging at the time. If Republicans are trying to suppress votes, they’ve been doing a terrible job.

“The former president and his supporters have decided the only way for them to win is to suppress your vote and subvert our elections. It’s wrong,” the President continued. “It’s undemocratic. And frankly, it’s un-American.”

The President at one point accused Trump and his supporters of having “held a dagger at the throat of America and American democracy” and denied they had gone to the Capitol as patriots.

Even as he insults those who support the President and are concerned about election integrity, Biden concluded by suggesting he would unite America.

“I will defend this nation, not allow no one to place a dagger at the throat of democracy,” he said. “We will make sure the will of the people is heard, that the battle prevails, not violence, that authority of this nation will always be peacefully transferred.”

Biden added, “I believe the power of the presidency and the purpose is to unite this nation. Not divide it, to lift us up, not tear us apart. It’s about us, not about me.”

If that’s your belief, you’re not doing it right.

Trump Fires Back

Donald Trump issued a statement indicating that, contrary to Biden’s claims to seek unity, he is actually attacking him and his supporters as a means to further divide America.

Trump accused Biden of using “my name today to try to further divide America.”

“This political theater is all just a distraction for the fact Biden has completely and totally failed,” he added in a statement interspersed with further unproven claims of election fraud.

“The Democrats want to own this day of January 6th so they can stoke fears and divide America,” he said. “I say, let them have it because America sees through their lies and polarizations.”

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) eviscerated Biden over his speech attacking Trump and his supporters rather than trying to unite America.

“What brazen politicization of January 6 by President Biden,” Graham tweeted.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris’s speeches today were an effort to resurrect a failed presidency more than marking the anniversary of a dark day in American history,” he added.
