In use Biossance Squaline + Copper Peptide Plumping Serum is very pleasant – it’s not one of those hyaluronic serums that disappear to nothing on the skin and your complexion will feel comfortable and hydrated. Whether it looks immediately healthy and resilient is another matter entirely. I’d say no. It just feels nice. There’s also talk of ‘visible’ bounce. Also, no. Because while we all know what the term bouncy means when it comes to skin – it’s that plump flexibility that comes with great hydration – I can’t say it immediately appeared and I think it’s because it’s too light a serum. And that’s kind of the trouble when claiming ‘immediate’. I’m sure my skin is more hydrated than it was before and certainly it feels very soft and tactile after applying but I don’t know what measure is used for the visible claim because I don’t look any different to the naked eye.
So that grumpiness out of the way, the product has very nice line up of key ingredients. Copper Peptide is a skin care favourite, often cited for its firming properties but maybe more usefully in its ability to promote the production of hyaluronic which will then lead to more hydrated skin. The two are a good pairing, supporting both collagen and elastin. Paracress is a plant extract that is said to be helpful in stimulating fibroblast function which would lead to tightening of collagen which in turn may produce firmer skin. It also contains squalane (which I love as an ingredient and always take more notice when a product contains it) and polyglutamic acid which helps with glow.
I very much like this brand – as my second completely, scraped to the absolute last, Biossance Squalane & Rose Lip Balm (above) will show as would the half empty bottle of Biossance Squalane Oil. I’m not saying that Biossance Squaline + Copper Peptide Plumping Serum isn’t a great product. I just didn’t like the enthusiastic marketing that draws you in and sells you short although in the longer term it will probably do you very well. It’s £52 HERE, the balm is £12 HERE and now comes in a tube rather than a pot.
