Borno Police Arrest Two Suspected Cable Vandals in Gubio

GUBIO, Borno State — The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Borno State Police Command has arrested two individuals suspected of vandalizing high-tension electrical cables in Gubio Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson Nahum Daso announced the arrests in a statement released on Friday. He reported that the suspects, identified as Saminu Muhammed, 24, and Mohammed Bukar, 25, were apprehended on January 26, 2026, around 10:00 a.m. This operation followed credible intelligence regarding their activities.

According to Daso, the suspects were found in possession of 13 sacks of high-tension electrical cables that had been vandalized. The cables were reportedly concealed to resemble animal feed.

The investigation into this incident will continue, as authorities seek to gather additional evidence and prepare for prosecution. This arrest is part of the Borno State Police Command’s ongoing efforts to address the theft and vandalism of critical infrastructure throughout the state.
