BREAKING: I dare you to submit evidence of toxic chemical procurement to DSS – Ribadu to El-Rufai

National Security Adviser Challenges Former Governor to Provide Evidence Amid Toxicity Allegations
The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has formally invited former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to submit evidence regarding allegations of thallium sulfate procurement to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation.
Thallium sulfate is a highly toxic, colorless, and odorless compound that poses significant health risks even in small quantities. El-Rufai claims the substance was sourced from a supplier in Poland.
In earlier statements, El-Rufai accused ONSA, led by Nuhu Ribadu, of procuring the chemical and has called for urgent clarification on the matter. In response, ONSA has denied these allegations, reiterating the invitation for El-Rufai to present any evidence he may possess to the DSS for an in-depth investigation.
Reports indicate that a copy of the ONSA’s formal response, addressed to El-Rufai, was initially rejected by security personnel at his Abuja office. The personnel stated they were unaware of when El-Rufai would be present. However, the document was eventually delivered, with a security officer signing on El-Rufai’s behalf.
Brigadier-General OM Adesuyi, writing on behalf of the National Security Adviser, confirmed receipt of El-Rufai’s inquiry dated February 11, 2026. Adesuyi’s response, dated February 13, emphasized that ONSA has not procured, nor does it plan to procure, thallium sulfate.
The correspondence noted, “The allegation has been formally referred to the Department of State Services for a comprehensive investigation.” It further indicated that El-Rufai and others with pertinent information would be invited by the DSS to assist in the investigation.
The ONSA concluded the letter by extending the “esteemed regards” of the National Security Adviser to El-Rufai.
