Buckley’s potential Collingwood D-Day revealed

Nathan Buckley‘s future at Collingwood could come to a head in the next fortnight prior to the annual Queen’s Birthday clash against Melbourne, according to Caroline Wilson.

Buckley’s future has been one of the major talking points in the AFL this season, with the veteran coach still unsigned amid the club’s 2-9 start to the season.

Wilson stated that she believes Buckley won’t be re-signed, and explained how his future is tied to the controversial presidential coup attempt by Jeff Browne.

“The board change would have to happen first and I think there’s a determination, if the Jeff Browne camp does succeed, that they don’t want the current board to make a decision on Nathan Buckley before they do act,” she told Nine News Melbourne.

“I still believe it’ll happen before the Queen’s Birthday game, and the last three performances by Collingwood have done nothing to change my mind there.

“I don’t think the current board is now united on whether or not Nathan Buckley should get that new contract and his manager Craig Kelly’s role is pivotal in the negotiation.

“Collingwood won’t re-sign Nathan and I think the new board needs to come in and look at Nathan for the rest of the year before they make a decision.

“If they do decide it’s time for him to go, then I think it will be a big name that will replace him.”
