Tumbler Ridge High School Shooting Claims 10 Lives

TUMBLER RIDGE, British Columbia — A shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School has resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals, including the shooter, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The incident has also left several others injured.

Police reported that six victims were found dead inside the school, with an additional victim succumbing to injuries en route to a hospital. Furthermore, two deceased individuals were located at a residence believed to be linked to the incident.

The RCMP confirmed that the situation involved an “active shooter” at the school. Authorities indicated that the shooter was also found dead, appearing to have died from a self-inflicted injury.

Emergency responders have airlifted two individuals to a hospital with serious or life-threatening injuries. Approximately 25 additional people are currently being assessed for non-life-threatening injuries at a local medical facility.

The RCMP noted that all remaining students and staff were safely evacuated from the school. Police are collaborating with the school district to facilitate a coordinated reunification process for families.
