[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] It’s great to see a beauty brand with personality. There is a lot of generic stuff out there but I don’t think we could say this about Carolina Herrera’s quirky and positively charming take on lipsticks.

While this is something of a system, in that you buy each component separately (top, bottom, ring, charm, lipstick), it’s as much fun as a pick and mix. There are eight colours (the yellow one is lush) for the tops and bottoms and absolutely nothing to say you have to have matching shades. There are also eight shades of tint.

Obviously, once you have the case, you can fill – and refill – with any shade you like. I like that Herrera has applied one of the brand’s codes – alegria de vivir (joy of living) – to the make up because they are enormously joyful.

Obviously, the charms are optional but they do add an extra spark. You can choose from beetle or heart at the moment – Harrods website is a nightmare in finding anything so perhaps I just couldn’t find the flower, but the link for heart is HERE and beetle is HERE. The shades I have here from left to right are: Orange, Carolina and Peach Me.

The formula is balmy – and beautifully so. They’re very soft on the lip with a decent amount of colour and a gorgeous sheen that gives lips a dewy and fresh look. The caps and bases are £5 each HERE.

In the swatch, top to bottom – Orange, Carolina (which is more red) and Peach Me. They’re £17 HERE. Carolina is the one for me – an enlivening, brightening kiss of colour that’s summery and vivacious. Inexplicably, Harrods haven’t clustered all the Mini Tint shades together so that link is to Carolina – use search for the other shades. I thought the bangle, the heart charm and any colour casing and tint would make such a lovely and special bride or bridesmaid gift but if you have summer birthdays coming up, they’re hitting the spot on that front too.
