CBN denies asking banks to collect old N500 and N1000 notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria has debunked news that it has granted approval for commercial banks to  collect the old N500 and N1000 notes from Nigerians.

Earlier today, it was widely reported that the apex bank has asked all commercial banks to collect the old notes. In a statement released this evening, the apex bank described the report as ‘fake and unauthorized”.
