LAGOS — The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has seized 13 containers of expired drugs, food items, and security equipment valued at N6.38 billion at Apapa Port.

Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adeniyi announced the interceptions on Tuesday during a press briefing at APM Terminals in Lagos. The seizures resulted from increased intelligence-led enforcement, the use of scanning technology, and focused physical examinations of suspicious shipments.

“The items seized include expired pharmaceutical products such as Mixagrip Cold Caplets, Ladinax tablets, chloroquine injections, and diclofenac tablets,” Adeniyi stated. He also noted that officers intercepted substantial quantities of Hyegra 200, Sildenafil Citrate, and 800 cartons of codeine that were concealed in toilet cisterns and sanitary ware.

Additionally, expired food products, including muffin cookie biscuits and 36,000 cans of Primo energy drinks, were among the contraband. Containers of expired St. Kelvin and De Truth tomato paste were also discovered during the operation.
