Damning club statement as Thomas stood down

Troubled star Tarryn Thomas has again been stood down by North Melbourne in the wake of fresh allegations of misbehaviour towards women.

The Kangaroos have released a statement which says that Thomas has “not made sufficient progress in his respectful behaviour training program.”

“Thomas’ failure to meet expectations around his education program means the club will now create a new plan to address his issues of accountability, remorse and behaviour change,” it said.

“Separately, the club was this week alerted to further allegations of inappropriate behaviour against Thomas. Information relating to these allegations has been shared with the AFL’s Integrity Unit.”

CEO Jennifer Watt says the club will now take time to determine the next steps.

“We reiterate the strong stance that North Melbourne takes towards respectful behaviour towards women,” she said.

“We are still committed to supporting Tarryn however it is clear he must show further progress before he can return to play matches for North Melbourne.”

MORE TO COME.
