Day One: Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders Bans the Word ‘LatinX’ From Government Documents

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders banned the phrase ‘LatinX’ from official state government documents, signing an executive order on her first day in office.

The order states the use of the letter ‘x’ negates gender and makes the term a misnomer.

“The Real Academia Española, the Madrid-based institution which governs the Spanish language, has officially rejected the use of ‘x’ as an alternative to ‘o’ and ‘a’ in Spanish,” it reads.

“One can no more easily remove gender from Spanish and other romance languages than one can remove vowels and verbs from English,” the order continues.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Eliminates Term ‘LatinX’

Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ ‘LatinX’ order was one of seven executive orders signed by the governor almost immediately after taking office.

Other matters include her banning the use of TikTok on government devices and a review of the teaching of critical race theory in Arkansas schools.

Sanders made history earlier this week as the first female governor of The Natural State. She is also, at the age of 40, the youngest governor in the country.

She believes her election is a mandate to enact conservative policies in Arkansas.

“There is a real hunger, not just from the public, but I think also from the legislature here, where we have Republican super-majorities in the House and the Senate, to do some pretty big things and enact some conservative reform,” she told Fox News.

The move to ban the term ‘LatinX’ isn’t a conservative reform, it’s a common-sense reform.

A 2020 poll indicates the word is only used by 3% of the Hispanic population. Seventy-six percent of Latinos had not even heard of the term, according to the same poll.

Still, liberals and the media will no doubt cast Sanders as a racist for daring to eliminate stupidity from government correspondence.

But there’s a history here. Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Representative Ruben Gallego, also banned the term in his office years ago.

“To be clear my office is not allowed to use ‘Latinx’ in official communications,” Gallego said. “When Latino politicos use the term it is largely to appease white rich progressives who think that is the term we use.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders had a major supporter in former President Donald Trump for whom she worked as White House press secretary. In fact, he suggested she run for Governor of Arkansas in the first place.

“She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job!” Trump said in 2019. “I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic.”

We think she’s going to be beyond fantastic – she’s going to be fantastix.
