Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered 51-star flags to be displayed along Pennsylvania Avenue this Flag Day in lieu of the actual American version.
The move is a form of protest over a long-sought battle for statehood, something championed by Democrats to give their party added Senate representation from a left-wing stronghold.
The national capital is not a state, as described in Article 1 of the Constitution.
Bowser said the display was meant as “a reminder to Congress and the nation that the 700,000 tax-paying American citizens living in Washington, D.C. demand to be recognized.”
“On Flag Day, we celebrate American ideals, American history, and American liberty. But the very foundation of those ideals, and the basis for our liberty, is representation,” she said in a statement.
“DC’s disenfranchisement is a stain on American democracy – a 220-year-old wrong that demands to be righted.”
Democrats have also pushed for statehood for Puerto Rico.
This #FlagDay, 51-star flags along Pennsylvania Ave will serve as a reminder to Congress and the nation that the 700,000 tax-paying American citizens living in DC demand to be recognized.

DC Mayor Hoists 51-Star American Flags
It’s difficult not to view Bowser’s renewed push for D.C. statehood as a means to help quell the oncoming ‘red wave’ in the 2022 midterm elections.
Republicans have argued against statehood, suggesting it is a violation of the Constitution.
Representative James Comer blasted the move, calling it little more than a brazen Democrat power grab.
“D.C. statehood is a key part of the radical leftist agenda to reshape America, along with the Green New Deal, defunding the police and packing the U.S. Supreme Court,” Comer (R-KY) said during a House Oversight and Reform Committee debate last year.
With Democrat control of the Senate hanging in the balance, Bowser’s push for more liberal senators seems sketchy.

Stacking the Senate
Bowser’s statement on the order to hang 51-star flags along Pennsylvania Avenue shows exactly what her intent is – stacking two more Senators and one House Representative into Congress to push a left-wing agenda.
“As Americans nationwide brace for a decision on the future of Roe v. Wade, we are also reminded that DC’s disenfranchisement impacts not just Americans living in DC, but Americans nationwide who share our values,” she said.
“While the stakes are even higher for Washingtonians, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the majority of Americans who believe in a woman’s right to choose,” Bowser added, later referencing demands for gun control as well.
To give you a picture of just how far left D.C. is, take a look at how they voted in the last few presidential elections.
According to 270towin, D.C. is extremely left-wing, and only becoming more so. The district voted 92% for Biden in 2020. The next most Democratic state was Vermont, with a mere 66% for Biden.
Since 1976, Ronald Reagan’s landslide in 1980 was the Democrats’ worst showing – at a mere 75%.

When she’s not desecrating Flag Day by hoisting false flags in the streets of DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser has been known to let loose in celebrating Independence Day.
Last year, she had to delete a 4th of July tweet including a meme with Ronald McDonald, Colonel Sanders, and what appears to be a topless version of Wendy from the fast-food franchise.

Sometimes, aside from pledging allegiance to a fake American flag on Flag Day, the DC mayor likes to create her own holidays.
Like in 2020, when she designated Christmas Eve as ‘Dr. Anthony Fauci Day’ in the nation’s capital.
In honor of Dr. Fauci’s 80th birthday tomorrow, I proclaim Thursday, December 24, 2020, “Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Day” in Washington, DC.
We are incredibly proud to count Dr. Fauci among the many DC residents who are sacrificing so much to keep our communities healthy and safe. pic.twitter.com/UqvS4sebMf
