Displaced Okuama villagers move into IDP camp built by Delta government after debacle with Nigerian army

Some Okuama villagers who fled the community following the killing of soldiers on a peace mission in March, have moved into the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp the Delta State government built for them at Okuama-Ewu in Urhobo kingdom.

Buses were sent to convey the displaced residents to the camp after a meeting with leaders of the community. It was further learnt that the displaced residents had initially rejected moving into the camp, saying it was built outside their land.

They however agreed to move in after Governor Sherrif Oborevwori met with them and also promised to commence rebuilding the health center in the community and a six-classroom block a few weeks from now.
