Vice Chancellor Urges Calm Amid Delay in Successor Selection at Michael Okpara University

UMUDIKE, Abia State — Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, the Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, has reassured staff and students regarding the ongoing delay in appointing a new Vice Chancellor.

Speaking during a monthly prayer meeting on campus, Professor Iwe emphasized that the selection process by the university’s governing council is actively underway. He encouraged the community to remain patient and hopeful during this transitional period.

“I know many people, both within and outside the university, are concerned about the prolonged process of appointing my successor. I urge you to trust in God, who is constant and capable of guiding us through this process,” Professor Iwe stated.

He has served as Vice Chancellor since March 2021 and is expected to complete his term in early March 2026.

Recent media reports have suggested that some members of the governing council may be hindering the activities of the outgoing administration, including the postponement of the 13th Convocation ceremony originally scheduled for December 2025.
