DSS Arrests Suspected ESN Commander and IPOB Member in Enugu State
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested a suspected commander of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Sabastine Odo Odam, along with Ejike Daniel, a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Friday in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The arrests followed a months-long surveillance and intelligence operation concerning the suspects’ activities. They are linked to a series of violent incidents in the area, including attacks on police stations and human fatalities between 2024 and 2026.
According to security sources, both suspects have confessed to orchestrating multiple assaults on law enforcement outposts, resulting in the deaths of 11 laborers on February 26 and five policemen between December 24, 2025, and January 26, 2026.
This development has been hailed as a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts by the DSS to combat insecurity in southeastern Nigeria. Residents of Isi-Uzo expressed hope that the arrests would help restore some degree of tranquility to their communities.
The suspects are currently in DSS custody and are expected to face court proceedings shortly.
