For the second year in a row, an outstanding season for Arkansas came to an end in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, this time with a loss to Duke, 78-69, on Saturday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

The 4-seed Razorbacks fought gamely at the outset, but in the end did not have enough to hold off the 2-seed Blue Devils.

Duke took the lead for good at 10-9 on a Mark Williams basket with 14:17 left in the first half and never trailed again.

The Blue Devils led at halftime, 45-33, and stretched their lead to as many as 16 points in the second half.

Jaylin Williams led Arkansas with 19 points and 10 rebounds. JD Notae and Stanley Umude added 14 points apiece.

Four Duke players scored in double figures, led by AJ Griffin with 18. Paolo Banchero added 16, Wendell Moore Jr. had 14, and Williams added 12 points and the same number of rebounds.

Duke (32-6) now moves onto the Final Four. Arkansas ends its season with a record of 28-9.
