Ed Sheeran to team up with metal icons Cradle Of Filth to work on new music

In the surprising duet that no one saw coming, chart-topper Ed Sheeran will team up with metal icons Cradle Of Filth to work on new music.

The Castle On The Hill hitmaker has done ‘some’ work on his collaboration with the band, frontman Dani Filth has revealed after they shared emails about the project last year.

The musician, 49, said the project has been pushed back due to Ed’s touring and personal commitments but insisted it is still going to happen.

‘We still have yet to finish our song with Ed Sheeran. He’s done some of it, but then he had a baby, and then he got obviously sidetracked with that and doing whatever Ed does, which is play massive shows around the globe,’ Dani shared, speaking to Knotfest.

‘He’s not at our beck and call. But he is gonna finish it, he assures me. Actually, I spoke to him quite recently.’

The rocker, who is a founding member of Cradle Of Filth and has released 13 full-length albums with the group, said the pair discussed writing together last year and wanted to release a charity single.

Dani revealed that Ed is a fan of Cradle Of Filth, and said he’d do anything for the project.

He added that he believed the collaboration would be great fun and that doing it for charity would bring ‘a bit of credibility to it’ drawing attention away from the wildly different styles of the artists.

It won’t be the first time Ed has dipped his toes into the metal scene as he collaborated with Sheffield five-piece Bring Me The Horizon on his popular song Bad Habits.

He also recently joined the group, fronted by singer/songwriter Oli Sykes, during their headline Reading Festival set for a surprise performance.

It was recently revealed Ed will join forces with a legion of names from the world of music to pay tribute to musical entrepreneur Jamal Edwards.

Hollywood actor Terry Crews and Luther actor Idris Elba will be among the stars taking part in the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust inaugural fundraising event.

Crews will host the central London gala on September 20 with special performances from Ed, Jessie Ware, Max Cyrus, and a DJ set from Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp.

Music entrepreneur Edwards, who received an MBE for his services to music in 2014, died on February 20 this year at the age of 31.
