EFCC arrests suspect over alleged N10m land fraud in Enugu

EFCC Arrests Suspect in Alleged N10 Million Land Fraud Case in Enugu
Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended Ifeanyi Mba in connection with a fraudulent land sale involving N10 million in Enugu State.
The arrest followed a formal complaint from an individual who accused Mba of soliciting the funds for the purchase of a plot of land that ultimately proved to be fraudulent. The petitioner reported paying Mba N10 million for a parcel allegedly situated at Plot 677, Owo/Premier Layout within the Ogui Nike community of Enugu.
Concerns arose when the buyer observed that construction had begun on the same land by unidentified individuals. Seeking clarification, the buyer contacted Mba, who allegedly revealed that he had discovered the property was government-owned.
The petitioner stated that efforts to recover the funds were unsuccessful, as Mba reportedly became unreachable following the inquiry.
Preliminary findings by the EFCC indicated discrepancies regarding the land’s official description. The commission reported that no government-acquired plot labeled Plot 677 Owo/Premier exists, noting that Owo and Premier Layouts are separate entities.
The EFCC confirmed that Mba will face arraignment once the investigation concludes.
