EFCC chairman orders arrest of operatives who broke into hotel rooms in Lagos

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two Commission officers allegedly involved in the assault of a female staff member at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.

 

In a video circulating online, the EFCC officials, dressed in plain clothes, are seen entering a hotel room forcefully. The video shows an unidentified woman, believed to be a hotel employee, attempting to open the door from inside when the men barged in.  read here

 

One of the officers is seen slapping the woman before ordering her out of the room. This incident was recorded on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).

 

In his statement, an EFCC spokesperson said the incident occurred during an early morning sting operation. He mentioned that the operation resulted in the arrest of several suspects who are currently being profiled.

 

He said;

 

“The EFCC’s boss has also ordered detailed investigations of the operation carried out at the hotel and assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any of the officers found to be culpable.”
